Art has been with me for as long as I have a memory. And as my artwork evolved, there has always been a constant thread. Process. For me, the best part of making art is not the message it might communicate but rather, my engagement in the process. Images are observed, interpreted, and executed by way of my own gesture, sensitivity, and humor. Observers might wonder why I sculpted a javalina juggling fruit or painted a sprouting sweet potato. Absurdity and beauty. Thoughtfulness and wonderment.
Photography is a skill that goes well with clay and painting. My overly imaginative eye observes action, happenstance, illusion, and pattern, along with the unusual, lovely, dramatic, and colorful. Capturing a fleeting moment for a permanent record is a thrill.
